Each cake that leaves our studio is a labor of love. All of our cakes are made to order from the freshest ingredients daily. The process of scuplting figurines, hand making sugar flowers, and preparing other embellishments can start weeks before delivery.
The inspiration for our designs is strongly influenced through interaction with our customers which is why we always prefer meeting in person, or on the phone, as opposed to just over email. Some of the most talked about details in our designs came from an off-hand comment made while talking about the event, or the guest of honor.
We like to learn about our clients interests, family members, favorite colors, hobbies, or little quirks that make them who they are. It's these tidbits of information that make our cakes not just customized, but personalized. We will often ask for photos of the guest of honor to help make our figurines more closely resemble them, or of a favorite item to help us recreate it more faithfully. The more input from you, the better output from us.

We feel what truly separates a good cake from a great cake are the small details. The things that you almost don't notice, and those details are where we truly shine. Every petal on our sugar flowers is hand formed, dusted, and airbrushed. All of our figurines are painstakingly sculpted and hand painted to represent the guest of honor. Whether it's the lace pattern in a bride's dress, the Bar Mitzvah boy's blue eyes, or a carved cake of dad's Corvette, we capture the little details that truly make each cake a unique piece of art.
Every last detail on our cakes is edible. You'll never see a plastic figurine or manufactured topper on one of our cakes. Rest assured, if you see it, you can eat it! Just because you can eat it doesn't mean you have to. All of our details can be removed from your cake and saved as a keepsake for years to come.
Consultations and Lead Time The two most common questions we are asked are, "How soon should I contact you?" and "So how does the creative process work?".
Quite simply, the sooner the better. Dates fill up fairly far in advance, especially during wedding and communion "seasons", and some designs will require a long lead time to create all of the figurines, hand craft flowers, and even make molds. We ask for at least two weeks notice for most cakes, but for specialty carved cakes and cakes for weddings, bar mitzvahs, etc., we recommend at least four weeks notice.
To ensure that your date will be available, and that we will have sufficient lead time to realize your dream, contact us as soon as you're able. We'd rather talk to someone four months in advance and get a head start building their design, than get a last minute phone call and have to turn you away for technical reasons. Plus, the more time we have to think about your concept, the more amazing it will be!
When you meet with us be sure to bring items such as pictures, color swatches, a copy of your invitation, etc. These items help us in creating a design that is truly personalized. There's no such thing as too much inspiration.
Cake Tastings We offer tastings for our clients in two ways. The first is to stop into the bakery anytime and just pick up some cupcakes! All of our cupcakes are made from the same recipes as our cakes. No appointment is necessary and there will always be a variety of flavors to choose from. For those wanting a more formal tasting with specific flavor combinations we are more than happy to schedule a one-on-one tasting with you. There is a small fee for tastings, but if you choose us as your cake vendor the tasting fee is applied to your final balance.
For answers to other frequently asked questions be sure to check out the FAQs page.
"How much do your cakes cost?" This is the probably second most common question that we are asked, and is one of the more difficult to answer. Since each cake is a totally unique creation, the complexity of the design and the number of servings required both play a role in the overall cost of the cake. Ultimately it's our goal to balance three components for our clients; the number of servings that they need, the look and feel they are trying to achieve, and the budget that they've established. Working in this way we are able to provide each client with the most amazing creation possible that will fit their particular budget and won't leave anyone without dessert. Remember, there's never a charge for consultations so please don't hesitate to give us a call for a personalized quote for your event.
Payment & Deposit Information We work with each client to arrange their particular payment amounts and dates, The following is a general overview of the process to give you an idea of what to expect.
We accept cash, checks, and credit cards for payment of your deposits and final balance. For cakes over $100.00 there are generally three payments. The first payment is a deposit to "Save the Date". The save the date deposit secures your reservation with us for your event and is applied towards your final balance, The remaining balance is split into the "Initial Deposit" and "Final Payment". The initial deposit is generally due upon receipt of the signed contract (depending on how far in advance the contract is signed), and the final payment is generally due between one and two weeks prior to delivery/pickup. For cakes under $100.00 payment is generally due in full one week prior to delivery/pickup.
